Cranswick plc. is a leading and innovative British supplier of premium, fresh and added value food products with annual revenues approaching £1.7bn
Their core market is the United Kingdom where they produce a range of high quality, predominantly fresh products ranging from fresh pork, gourmet sausage and bacon to premium cooked meats, continental foods, and gourmet pastry. Most recently, they have started to produce fresh chicken and manage the whole supply chain from farm to fork.
They operate from 14 well-invested, highly efficient production facilities in the UK, with a workforce of over 11,000 people. Today, Cranswick plc. is one of the largest food producers in Britain, but they’ve stayed true to their simple ethos - to create authentically made, sustainably produced British food, without compromise.
Second Nature
Cranswick has committed to becoming the world’s most sustainable meat business, as laid out in its January 2018 vision of a ‘Second Nature’ sustainability strategy. Against that 2018 plan, the company has had significant achievements, including:
• Beating the target of 50% reduction in food waste by 2030 - instead, they have removed 61% of edible food waste by 2020
• Removing over 1,000 tonnes of plastic from the business - including the removal of black plastic and PVC - and increasing the recycled content of plastic packaging to up to 80%
• Switching all grid-supplied electricity to renewable sources
• Committing to a Science Based Target
• Achieving Tier One Global Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW) standards for the fourth consecutive year
• Donating over 250,000 meals to local communities
• Over 1,500 colleagues volunteered as Second Nature ‘Changemakers’ to help meet our goals
